Abstract
The aesthetics of Arabic calligraphy has a vital role in teaching the Arabic language and its demand. Most of the manuscripts written by hand aim to spread knowledge of the aesthetics of the Arabic language and calligraphy. It is an art that distinguished Islamic civilization from other civilizations. It carries with it many of the aesthetic and educational values that Islam brought to make this art of sanctity and privacy within Islamic culture. The Arabic language is the language of the Qur’an and revelation, and the Qur’an was revealed in a clear Arabic tongue, and therefore understanding the Qur’an and Sunnah depends on learning the Arabic language. Our study includes the analysis of the aesthetic and educational concepts and values of Arabic calligraphy and the extent of its role as an essential means in teaching the Arabic language. The importance of this study lies in: Recognizing the aesthetic and educational concepts and values of Arabic calligraphy and the extent of their role in teaching the Arabic language. The reason for choosing this topic is that Aesthetic and educational values characterize Arabic calligraphy in general. These values have an essential role in highlighting the aesthetics of the Arabic language since Arabic calligraphy derives its aesthetic source from the aesthetic and eloquence of the Arabic language. Through the above, we pose the following problem: Do the aesthetic and educational dimensions and values that characterize Arabic calligraphy affect the teaching of the Arabic language? This study aims to reveal the aesthetic and educational concepts and values of Arabic calligraphy and its role in teaching the Arabic language according to an analytical perspective. What gives this study its original character is that it is limited to the aesthetic and educational dimensions that characterized the Arabic language and Arabic calligraphy simultaneously, similar to the studies that, in their entirety, dealt with the historical extent of this language. To answer the problem posed, we adopted in this study the theoretical scientific nature to present the aesthetic and educational concepts and values embodied within the folds of Arabic calligraphy and the Arabic language. In this context, we put forward the following hypothesis: Aesthetic and educational values and dimensions characterize Arabic calligraphy and the Arabic language. The limits of the study are related to the limitations of teaching Arabic by Arabic calligraphy. The study summarized several results: The extent of the role of Arabic calligraphy in highlighting the aesthetics of the Arabic language and enhancing its teaching. And that Arabic calligraphy is a fine art that is closely linked to Arab culture and the Islamic religion, and its importance and prominent role in teaching the Arabic language is evident. It possesses many aesthetic, artistic, spiritual, historical, and educational concepts and values.
